The former “Generator Fee” has been replaced by the Generation and Handling Fee (GH fee). The new fee includes items that were previously exempt: used oil (including oily water), coolant, used oil filters. So that now includes every dealership on the hook.
First, contact your hazardous waste hauler(s) to determine total tonnage. Once determined, register for the fee with California Department of Tax and Fee Administration at
https://onlineservices.cdtfa.ca.gov and complete the fee process.
